26 Hannah Jumper Candle
Perhaps no event in Rockport history is more well-known than Hannah Jumper’s raid of 1856. 75-year-old Hannah served as an inspiration to a group of women who had had enough of the growing problem of excessive alcohol indulgence within the town of Rockport. Brandishing hatchets under their shawls, the women stormed into one bar after another, smashing bottles and emptying kegs in the street. That was the end of drinking in Rockport (until several years ago)! Bars and pubs were outlawed and stayed that way for nearly 150 years.
We created our “Hannah Jumper” candle with a whiskey fragrance because we imagine it is close to what Rockport’s streets smelled like on that fateful day! We have updated this scent to also include some sweet butterscotch to soften it a bit. Quite strong out of the jar, our Hannah Jumper candle smells warm and absolutely delicious while burning.
