26 Hannah Jumper

Perhaps no event in Rockport history is more well-known than Hannah Jumper’s raid in July of 1856. 75-year-old Hannah served as an inspiration to a group of women who had had enough of the growing problem of excessive alcohol indulgence within the town of Rockport. Brandishing hatchets under their shawls, the women stormed into one bar after another, smashing bottles and emptying kegs in the street. That was the end of drinking in Rockport. Bars and pubs were outlawed and stayed that way for nearly 150 years. We created our “Hannah Jumper” candle with a whiskey fragrance because we imagine it is close to what Rockport’s streets smelled like on that fateful day! Quite strong out of the jar, it smells warm and absolutely delicious while burning.

Our candles are handcrafted in Rockport, MA using our special soy wax blend and the finest fragrance oils, carefully blended and poured by hand in small batches to ensure freshness. Our glass jars, wooden lids, and candle tins are made in the USA and we use only lead-free natural cotton wicks. All of our candle scents are inspired by the sea and life here in Rockport.
